Zbiroh Chateau became famous in connection with the Knights of the Templar Order because of The Face of Leonardo da Vinci - The Story of the Knights Templar Order -exhibition which took place in 2012. After nearly six-month exhibition, the original exhibition returned to the Zbiroh Chateau. However, many of the exhibits that were part of the Templar exhibition did not leave the walls of the chateau, so visitors can now see the original exhibition enriched with some exceptional examples of the history of the Templar Order.
These include the original token, the forerunner of the banking system. The Renaissance lounge is dominated by a top copy of the pivotal exhibit of the Face of Leonardo da Vinci - The Story of the Knights' Order of the Knights Templar, the so-called Lunar Plaque; self-portrait of Leonardo da Vinci. This is a recently discovered painting, which was exhibited for the first time outside Italy at the Zbiroh Castle!
